The massive housecleaning that began off the ice with the removal of the Oilers' assistant GM, head coach, head trainer and head equipment manager is continuing on the ice.
Captain Ethan Moreau, Patrick O'Sullivan and Robert Nilsson were all placed on waivers June 30 for the purpose of buying out their contracts, and on July 2 veteran defenseman Sheldon Souray was also waived.
Moreau got scooped up by Columbus before he could be bought out, and the Oilers worked out a trade with Phoenix before they had to write O'Sullivan a check.
There were no takers for Nilsson, however, so he received the buyout. The only certainty in Souray's future is that it won't be in Edmonton.
It wasn't, however, one-way traffic away from Edmonton.
