I know their are many people with young kids. My son is almost two and wears a size 7-8 ish in toddler size shoes. I was wondering if anyone had skates that small that they would be will to part with? I hope to get him on the ice here in the next couple of weeks, also does anyone reccommend a helmet for that age? would a Bike helmet work? Any other suggestios?

I have the same problem with my son thats about to turn 3. I have been thinking about getting these blades that strap to his shoes and it has two blades cause I have some skates but they are to big and he doesn't like how he cant balance and they adjust.

Guys, I would be very leary about putting a kid on skates before the age of 3 1/2 or 4. Their ankles simply are not strong enough to hold them up on a pair of skates. Like you guys, I wanted to get my kid on skates early, but after seeking the advice of some professionals, I was told no earlier than 3 1/2 and preferably 4. I coach the 8U program here in OKC. Most of the 5 year olds don't have strong enough ankles to skate properly. They develop bad habits that are very hard to break and can't learn the proper technique due to the lack of strength. Just my 2 cents. BTW, my son is almost 9 now. We waited until 3 1/2 and he is an excellent skater.

I've heard this too. Up in MN (where every kid is the next Greztky according to the parents) they're in skates before they can hardly walk.

Thats y i was thinking about those shoe attach things cause it has 2 blades so the balance is not a big thing.
