I was just at blazers talking with Andrew and they are thinking about doing a teen and adult clinic. It would be every Wednesday night, teens would be earlier and then adults at about 7pm....then pickup after. I told them I think it's a good idea and they wanted me to see how much interest there would be. So if you think it's something you would do please post up so we can get this started.

Welcome. Too bad you missed out on our camp. If you want to check out what we're doing we'll be at the Cox Center from 7-9 tomorrow night. We'll most likely do another camp in a few months

OOOPs sorry Bretty I kinda let the beans slip about your camp to Larry D, maybe it planted a seed to get this ball rolling. I was up there today too and Cindy told me possibly Stacy Bauman formerly of OKC Blazers and Tulsa Oilers!

However I like that they are thinking of a back to back Hockey Academy one for the kids then one for the adults right after it.

Good, I hope they do something like that. We've been asking for it forever. If not, we'll just do more of these camps.

That's exactly what this camp would focus on, then gradually go into shooting, positioning etc. I will email Andrew and tell his there is about 10 people interested.
In sure a lot of the guys doing the camp now would show up too.
These camps help so much, I have never played hockey or pick up, and I have learned so much in the last two sessions....shit, I actually scored a goal in that game lastnight at the end of practice.

I saw that! Too bad I didn't have my video camera out. We'll try to get video of the big game next Wednesday and put something on Youtube.

I have a friend who may be interested. What would the cost be? $10 like usual pickup or more?

I also wish Arctic Edge would do something. Blazers is quite a drive for me if it's later at night.

Has anyone heard anything from the rinks on this?

I went by Arctic Edge a couple days ago and they hadn't heard anything about it. They looked at me like I was nuts.

Don't the rinks work together or are they completely separate management/ownership

I think they work together and are owned by the same company, but different management. It probably is still in the works as far as getting a coach, times, etc.....

For those of you that have kids, Stacey Bauman is very good at working with kids. I see him at stick and puck all the time and the kids just flock to him and they look like they are having a blast.

The email didn't mention cost, but I'd guess $10 like usual.

Stacey Bauman is awesome with the kids and yes he is like a magnet. Doesn't Fleck still have his clinics at the Ice Center?

Ask them if they were interested in doing an Advanced Camp after the Adult Camp for upper D3/D2 players. I want us all to keep moving up in level so that D4 remains beginners and there are more and more D1 & D2 teams... It's been 20 yrs since I went to Hockey Camp and I know I need to brush up on skills, techniques, position, breakouts, powerplays, etc. Love to get some ideas for what I should be practicing on at S&P, Pickup, dryland, etc. What do pro's, college players do to increase agility, hand-eye coord, accuracy... Thanks. They should involve Barons, OU, & UCO players too. We might all go to more games if we had a connection with the players.

We just had a 3 day beginner camp with 2 ex UCO guys teaching it. The Barons did come out and say hi but didn't skate. I have a contact with the team I could ask to set another one up.
Problem is that we have to buy the ice and it gets pricey. I'd sure like it if the rinks could do this so its cheaper. But they don't really seem interested (it took us running our own camp to get them to run a beginner adult instruction)

Anyone make it - how was it?

If they did a different date or time we'd have some of our beer league group play I bet. We have 20 guys playing at AE at 7:30 though

Not bad on the first night, need a few more people to come out. We did some basic skating skills and stick handling, along with shooting the puck. Some good information passed along.
