I thought it was $4500 last season? Or are you talking about the last summer season??

Just so people have an idea of the expense here's a little info on costs.
Ice time = $300/hr (this is what the OKCYHA is charged)
Refs = $100 max (some refs get paid more than others, not sure how/why)
Total = $400
Per player per game = $20 (assuming 10 players per team)
Summary: 15 games between 2 teams with 10 players each would total $300 per player. Multiply that by 10 players and the team should pay $3000. The rinks are asking for $4500 per team or $450 per player assuming 10 players. You can get to $300 per player if you have 15 on your roster, but you are still overpaying as $400/30 players (15 per team) is $13.33 per player per game for a total of $200 per player for the season. Hence, I will be sitting out for a while.

Oh and Brett last season was 3200-3500 ... It started out at 4,000 but a lot of teams didnt sign up so they lowered it.

Maybe they're doing a longer season for the 4500. I deleted the email so I am not sure.
I know they didn't start until late April for the summer season last year

Yeah... good luck with that.
A normal team is 10 plus a goalie. so 450 per person (our goalies always played free)
30 bucks a game???
Yeah - good luck with that AE and Blazers

Yeah no thanks. 30 bucks per game. Dream on. I was actually thinking about playing this summer but unless there's a team with a sponsor no way.

If the league was really well organized, with good reffing, high quality ice, balanced teams, and no nonsense put up with on the ice, then maybe. But considering what you get for your money, no thanks.

Seriously? You guys are wining about $25-30/game? You get a free ice scrimmage or practice this Sunday and then the playoffs are free. So really you get up to 18 icetimes. FYI if you get close to the team fee that's fine with Larry. They're not trying to kill us with outrageous profits people. If you love the game you'll find a way to skate. No, the league is far from perfect, the reffing is getting better, but this Oklahoma not Michigan or Boston. For a tiny city, we have two decent rinks, refs, proshops, and players. Suck it up or enjoy pickup !

I think the higher division is put together much better. Note that he said a D1 WCHA player shouldn't be playing in D2. That's the problem with the lower divisions. Not calling anyone sandbaggers but it needs to be split between D3 and D4.

I have to agree with Yeti here... Yeah it is expensive but it is also all we have. I love playing hockey , even though I am not good at it, and am going to pay what I have too to play. Yeah our league lacks some organization and high quality ice . However I will have to say while the refs do miss some calls , they for the most part miss them both ways. Its not a blatant thing, unless you have Defeo reffing you and he is telling you your a MF'er or a Bitch. I think, to be honest, any way you go your gonna get unbalanced teams. If the best teams in my division moved up they would prob get beat by the worst teams there. That being said , you shouldn't have a guy who played for a college team playing in the lowest division. I , however, cant police that and will just continue to play around it .... and whine about it here ;)
I guess like Yeti said it really comes down to if you want to play or not .... If you want to just play pick up , then that is fine. Then you can worry about there being 28 guys out there with 5 of them staying on the ice for the whole hour . You can also enjoy playing with 1 or even no goalies and having to play posts. What it comes down to is , are you willing to pay a little extra to play in a (semi) organized league? Sure its expensive but its better than the alternative .

Well looks like there is only 4 teams in Div 4.... MoonDawgs, Tripods, Tinker, and BioHazard. We scrimmaged BioHazard yesterday and they only had 4 players show up.... If they cant find enough we might only have 3 teams... YIKES!

Well, at least is sounds like it's real D4 teams (maybe minus the Tripods).
Have fun guys. I'm sitting this one out
