Hey guys new to the area. My name's Patrick. Anyways was trying to figure out if there is any interests in an inline hockey league or if it's all ice around here. I use to play inline and was trying to get back into it. Truthfully I just miss hockey. If anyone interested in getting a league going or whatever feel free to call or txt me @ 405-425-9731 or email me @ outlawchasers@live.com thanks.

Hey welcome to the site. I know there's been quite a bit of interest - it's just a matter of where we could play.
Are you thinking outdoors or using a building?

I'd be up for it. Good question though where would we play? And it might be rough playing when its 110 out :)

Hey I live in Shawnee. I think it'd be great to have a teams from the okc area and surrounding communities. As far as outdoors or indoors idk. Just depends on what's available. I think maybe we could do both. Maybe some teams have a basketball court that they called home, and some teams have a skating rink they use. That's how we did it out in western Oklahoma where I played. I was looking into prices for ice hockey and I know i sure couldn't afford to play right now. I'm thinking this could be a cheap alter. to play. I'd love to start a league if i knew enough people were interested and had a couple of people willing to help get something off the ground.

Do you think there enough interests people to get a league going? If so I'd be willing to get one started and find places to play.

I'll ask our hockey group here. I bet we could get pickup games going if nothing else. Was thinking maybe Mitch Park in Edmond might be a good spot

Sent out a message to our hockey group and on facebook/twitter. Lots of interest. I do know they melt down the West AE rink over the summer - I could talk to them about renting the building.
It sure would be cool having an outdoor rink though.

Sounds really good Brett! I may have gotten a team put together from Shawnee. Not sure yet. I can't wait to play again

We're talking to the rink. I think we could get something going this spring or summer. Obviously we'd have to wait for the ice to come out on the AE West rink.

Any update? I looked at the league in Norman but that's a drive for me, plus that place doesn't look very big.
If we could get them to turn on the AC at AE it would be great there with a full size rink
Hey guys, pretty new to the OKC area but played some hockey with the OKC Gladiators this past weekend at the Shamrock Shootout, and was told all about this website! I am creating the OU roller hockey team to play in the SCHL, and we play in the league in Norman. It is right off of I35 and we already have lots of people from the OKC area. You are correct the rink is most certainly not regulation size, but if you are looking to get on wheels instead of blades (or both!) it is actually really cheap compared to the ice leagues and a whole heck of a lot of fun. We just finished up our latest season (consisting of 6 teams) and the next one is starting soon! If you guys want to check it out we will have two pick ups this weekend! Spread the message and if you guys have any questions feel free to shoot me a message on here. I will be creating a thread topic in the next day or so! once I get the times confirmed by the rink owner.
Ps: if some one gets that league in AE started up I know our OU team would be more than happy to play and I am sure OSU's team would as well.

You might start out by going to the closet ice rink to where you live (probably blazers ice center) and ask about skating and/or hockey classes. They will hook you up or give you the info you need to get started. One suggestion, if you can’t skate yet, just go to the rink and start skating during public sessions. If you need a few pointers to get started I imagine someone will help you out. You can also buy some in-line skates, find a good place to skate and start in-line skating (don't forget the protective equipment).

Agree with professorhockey. I'd go to the public skate once a week or so (cheaper too) and get your feet under you
Check this out thread on the blazers adult instruction too - I'm not sure if they've started it yet.

Me too. I'll look around see if we can find somewhere who can take the nets down (and has lights). That would be a blast.
Why don't you guys check around town too

Here are suggestion:
I go to UCO in EDMOND and currently in fraternity (KAPPA SIGMA), right next door there is a huge parking lot that NO ONE PARKS IN! At night the parking lot is well lite
OR
A lot of these churches in Edmond have gyms, I wondering if we could rent out one of these gyms?! Maybe get the church invovled and start a league then you can give some money to the church and it can raise money to start constant league.
Now to the most important thing, I need some used equpimnet...I have a Jager Machine lol :O)
