I spoke with Stacey Bauman last week and asked him if he is doing any adult academies/training sessions. He said that he is only doing this with little kids, but would be willing to do adult if there was enough interest and available ice times. I spoke with Cindy at Blazers about this and she said that they would be willing to do this if again there was enough interest. Why don't you chime in if you are interested? I am not sure on the possible days of the week or prices, just testing the waters. Cindy said that they would need at least 10 people to show up in order to be able to justify the cost. Any takers?
P.S.: I will post this on facebook on OKC Hockey players also.

i attended the one earlier this year and there wasn't enough interest. I am very interested. Stacey is a good instructor and you'll learn alot from him. I hope there will be more interest this time around

If they will take someone without experience (a total newbie to playing), I'd be interested.

If they will take someone without experience (a total newbie to playing), I'd be interested. thats the whole point. I had dabbled a little bit but got some really good playing tips and some much needed confidance when i participated in the one earlier this year. it gave me a whole new perspective on the game as a whole. i dont know how to stop that good or even skate backward and i did a little of both. if they get enough come on out and you'll be surprised at how well he helps you out.

Which day of the week? Would it be mid week or weekends? The day matters in my case....

Not sure on the day yet. I gave the numbers to Cindy at Blazers. She said that she would talk to Larry and let me know. She was hinting that Saturday morning were the only open times they had.

sat mornings would be a good time to have it, for me anyway. Hope this will work out better this time around

Saturday is fine for me. The earlier the better. My son has lessons at 11a up in Edmond.

I'm definitely interested, like some of you guys I'm new to the game. Saturday morning might be tough since my kid has practice at artic at 11 as well but I'll be willing to try and figure something out. Getting all new gear for Christmas so I'm ready to go. Let me know, if you need my email or number let me know

Well there you have it...the OP to this thread said they wanted/needed 10. According to the responses we have 11 interested parties (counting the 4 mentioned ref: FB group)...
And just to clarify, when I said early Saturday, I was hoping/meaning not later than 8a to start...that only gives me a couple hours to practice, get home and get my son to Arctic Edge. Another day or afternoon works for me. Just trying to dial in my availabilty (for Satruday, at any rate).

Just wondering if there's been any word of this happening?

I spoke with Cindy again before New Years and told her that we have their minimum requirement met. She said that she would pass it on to Larry.

So any word? I talked to artic edge and apparently they are starting an adult hockey academy like they have for kids on Saturday. They said it should start in February and it's ten bucks for the session just like the kids one is ran. I'd rather have some sort of program like the ones ran up north ( I'll post a link) but it seems like blazers/artic edge just arent interested.

That would be great if they did a "kid's first" for adults. I would appreciate that link or contact info. I'm at AE all the time with my son, but haven't seen anything about that. That would be perfect for me.

Have different levels of instruction. I mean if they had something like this, the interest in the sport would grow , the rec league could grow and perhaps the barons would sell more than 2000 tickets a night. There are loads of people on base looking for sports to play, I'm just saying that there would be people interested in this.

Theyre not doing a program like kids first, it's like the hockey academy they do from 945 - 1045. Did you see the link I posted? That's what they need , I mean something like that wouldn't only grow interest for the sport but would also make the rec league that much bigger. But I definitely need an "adult first" program.

It won't let me post a link without a moderator checking it first, check out Hna.com. They have an amazing adult program

I didn't know that AE had an adult Academy on sat mornings; or is that the kiddos?

Yeah, there is no link. HNA.com? I'll look for it. If they are okay with beginners, then I'm in.

The Saturday is only for kids but they are starting an adult one sometime in February, I think he said Wednesday evenings......That Hna.com has a program they run up north that I think if blazers or AE modeled one after would be perfect.

My wife and I would be very interested in whatever program develops at either place. She played as a child and I've only skated 3-4 times ever. I'll be watching to see what happens.

It's too bad the rink can't get organized on this. Guys - if anyone knows Stacey maybe just contact him directly and buy some ice. It's probably more expensive but at least it'll happen.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to get this going. There are plenty who want to do it and they know there is enough

I spoke with Cindy today about this once more. She is saying that they don't have ice time available until possibly March. I will follow up with them then. In the mean time I probably need to speak with Stacey to see if he is still interested. Another thought is to speak with Arctic Edge to see if they have time. Sounds like Blazers is a more convenient spot for almost everyone here.

its nice to finally know something. no offense Kozak. One would think they could move things around to accomodate especially when there are people interested and willing to pay out money. but, hey, its a start and atleast they are trying, lol. IMO wish they could start it sooner.

Ok, this thing might come together yet. I received an update from Blazers. They will have ice time available starting at the end of March, for Monday or Thursday at 7:30 PM. Saturday is out. Stacey is still interested. He is talking to Blazers about the prices. I will check with him closer to the middle of March and will update this thread.

I actually asked about this about 3 weeks ago on the Blazers Facebook page. I was told that this:
"We are trying to get an Adult Hockey Academy going. We are still working out the details for which night of the week we will do it. It will be on a week night and the cost will be $10. You will need to provide your own equipment. You can purchase equipment in our proshop. Check back with us in a couple of weeks, hopefully we will know something by then."
I asked again today, but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks Melissa. Stacey was in Canada in the middle of March last time I spoke with him about this via FB. He told me then that Blazers and him were still working out the details. I think it's between them right now.

I spoke with Blazers again and they seem to be having some trouble getting this all going. I was told that it may be June before we hear anything. Is anyone interested in going to stick and puck as a group so some of the more experienced players can help out the beginners while we wait on them to get things started?

Hey all,
I haven't posted in a while, but I am definately interested in attending a Hockey Academy. I haven't played before and haven't been on ice in 15 years, but it sounds like a blast!
