On the evening of Tuesday, October 5th, the Texas Stars opened up the Cedar Park Center for a private "Meet the Team" event for season ticket holders. Fans that had purchased season tickets were invited to come pick up their ticket packets and stick around for a meet and greet with this year's team. Guests were welcomed by General Manager Scott White who introduced the coaches and team. The roster that was announced included: Tyler Beskorowany, Richard Bachmand and Brent Krahn at goalie; Dan Spang, Jordie Benn, Trevor Ludwig, Matt Stephenson, Maxime Fortunus, Philip Larsen and Severin Blindenbacher on defense; and Aaron Gagnon, Tomas Vincour, Colton Sceviour, Scott McCulloch, Raymond Sawada, Sean Backman, Tristan King, Travis Morin, Cody Chupp, Greg Rallo, Ondrej Roman, Luke Gazdic and Mathieu Tousignant at forward.

After the formal program concluded, fans had a chance to mingle with the players on the club level of the Cedar Park Center. The Crown Royal Lounge was open and Bud Light provided free beer for the evening. Fans also got a chance to get autographs and pose for photos with their favorite players. Season ticket holder Steve Maggi even brought a special item to be autographed at the event, a life-size cardboard cutout of Francis Wathier. Maggi said he had bugged his account executive all summer for the cutout and planned to place it at his work to guard his desk.
The event was fun for fans young and old alike. The players were especially great with the children, often getting down on their level to sign t-shirts, jerseys and hockey sticks. The event was a great opportunity for season ticket holders to find out more about some of the new faces of the Texas Stars. Despite how many questions the guys had to answer about who they were and where they came from, the new additions were gracious and seemed excited to be at home in the Cedar Park Center. The merchandise shop was also bustling throughout the event, with fans scooping up items to be signed as well as some of the new items the store was offering for sale - a larger selection of women's t-shirts, new caps and golf shirts and even puck display cases made from used hockey sticks. Fans certainly left the event excited about the upcoming season.

Sounds like a great idea; why limit it to just season ticket holders? Sell packets of game tickets, look at the Thunder they have 20- and 8-game packages throughout the season.

Get a sponsor for free T-shirts on open house night as well.

Looking at what the Oilers sent us we are going to be in for a fruitful season.

If Austin can take it to a level where they are averaging roughly 5,500 a game; Oklahoma City should be able to double that; also, look at Houston (5,800) and San Antonio (5,300), they have been productive in generating fan support because they do have a better product than AA on the ice.

I agree Brett. I kind of thought since this was the Baron's first year there would be some kind of party/event this weekend.

I agree Brett. I kind of thought since this was the Baron's first year there would be some kind of party/event this weekend.

When I bought my season tickets earlier this year, I was told the organization was going to try to do this sometime in August/September. Maybe later this year?
