The OKC Barons return home Friday after a 5 game road trip and a long week off.
They'll face the Texas Stars for the first time this year. Texas surprised many people last year after going to the Calder Cup finals - but they have a much weaker team this year. Texas is only 3 points behind the Barons with a 6-4 record. Texas has lost their last 2 games. The Barons, however, are on a 4 game win streak.
A few game notes
Texas has the fewest PIM in the AHL with 109
Alexandre Giroux is 9th in the AHL in scoring with 12 points
Liam Reddox is 2nd in the AHL for SOG (54)
Jeff Deslauriers has been assigned to the OKC Barons from Edmonton and is likely to see playing time this weekend
Jean-Francois Jacques was also assigned to the Barons on a conditioning assignment.

My kid SHOULD be one of the banner skaters for this game. McEwen hit me up about it yesterday, woohoo free tickets!

That is really cool Scott. One of my favorite pictures of Brent is him skating the Blazers banner.

I'll be at the oilers game tonight so I won't see this one, but I'm interested to see how Jacques will look coming back from yet another back injury. Maybe someone who is going can remember to keep an eye out for him if he is in the lineup tonight.

I won't make it tonight but I'll be at tomorrows games vs Houston and Sunday vs Toronto. I'm guessing he'll be on the 3rd line - they haven't been mixing up the top 2 much lately.

Barons win 6-1.
Heard the attendance was decent - around 5600. Not bad.

This was the first time I had personally been at a game where a team saluted the crowd. The fans were loud and supportive all game. After the final buzzer, all the Barons skated toward center ice tapping their sticks and then raising them. It was as awesome sight and I very much appreciated the gesture.
Go Barons!

Great atmosphere last night. Exciting play in the ice, goals, big hits, even a good fight. Fans even started a "Let's Go Barons!" chant a few times. We sat above the visitor tunnel, and a few guys were giving it to Krahn after he was chased out of the net. Nights like that hook the casual fans, IMO.

Awesome video Scott. I bet he was wound up all night after that!!
Agree Mont - nights like that will hook the casual fans. And of course I missed it :(
See you tonight. Our whole beer league team will be in section 325.

5490 was the official number, but after the last few games it sure SEEMED like a lot more than that. I'm not sure any team could have beat the Barons last night, they were just firing on all cylinders. I'll be following tonight's game via Twitter, wish I could be there :(

Well I think I smell a situation brewing with glass being so low around the penalty box. The Stars' captain got put in the box and the fan right behind the glass standing up taunting him. The player , the penalty box attendee, and the fan were in a heated exchange and eventually the cops came down and were going to remove him. The fan wasnt being to big an ass. Just run of the mill insults , you suck etc.... The fan ended up staying but I think some taller glass would help. The fans can lean right into the penalty box.

oh and I agree about hooking the casual fan. I took my grandpa to his first ever hockey game last night. He has only seen the Moondawgs play. Yeah I know the Moondawgs are fast and exciting but I talked him into going to see real hockey. Him and my step grandmother LOVED IT!!! By the end of the night they were asking about tickets cost per game, Season ticket prices, and told me when ever I was going to other games just give them a call and they were in to go.... Hopefully it hooked a lot more people last night too!

My only complaint about last night was the food vendors were not prepared for some reason. Pizza Hut didn't have pizzas and the baked potato guy didn't have potatoes...what's up with that?

I heard that complaint from a lot of people. The BBQ stand had my BBQ nachos so all was cool with me !
